Master of my sewing room---we will see!

I am not sure how it happens, but I have so many scraps and pieces of fabrics that I thought I am going to cut them Bonnie Hunter style. I press the pieces, and than cut them into strips from 1.5" to 3 "inches and squares from 2" to 6.5 inches.  

Ich weiss nie wie das immer kommt, aber ich habe so viele Reste von Stoffen das ich angefangen habe sie zu schneiden ala Bonnie Hunter. Zuerst werden die Reste gebuegelt, dann zugeschnitten von 1.5 inches bis 3 inches Streifen, und 2 inches bis 6.5 inches Quadrate.

Here are some strips already cut and sorted. When I keep going I will need a bigger box.

Meine Streifen sortiert. Wenn ich so weiter mache brauche ich bald eine groessere Schachtel.

Diese sind die 3 inch Quadrate in meiner tollen Box.

3.5" to 5 inches. It makes it easy for me when I make scrap quilts to just check my boxes for the fabrics needed. I am working on two leaders and enders quilts Bonnie Hunter style.

The power of nature

Nature has a force that sometimes makes me realize how week we humans are.

We have had a lot of snow last week. 

Wir hatten ziemlich viel Schnee letzte Woche.

The snow was wet and heavy. The pine tress held up, but the birch trees didn't.

Der Schnee war nass und schwer. Die Tannenbaueme haben es ausgehalten, aber die Birken nicht.

Than we got ice rain, and some of the branches snapped of the trees and trees fell over because of the weight.

Dann kam der Eisregen und die Aeste sind gebrochen und ganze Baueme sind umgefallen von dem Gewicht.

Our fence between us and the neighbors yard held up.

Der Zaun zwischen dem Nachbar und uns hat es ausgehalten.

Now we have some firewood in the yard.

Jetzt haben wir Holz zum verfeuern im Garten.

This was so cool, about one inch of ice on everything, these are blades of grass.

Das war so cool, ungefaehr zwei centimeter Eis auf allem , das hier sind Graesser.

On top of it we had no power here from Wednesday night till Sunday afternoon.

Wir hatten auch keinen Strom von Mittwoch Nacht bis Sonntag Nachmittag.

Valentines Day is next month.

The fun thing about moving in a new home is that my wall hangings are now in different places.

Das nette an einem neuen Haus ist das meine Wandbehaenge jetzt ganz wo anders haengen.

Since it is Valentines Day next month, I went ahead and added my Valentines Day fabric postcards to my postcard wallhanging. Than I attached it to a wall in my new home. It is hanging on the right side when I go up the stairs to my sewing room. 

Da naechsten Monat Valentines Tag ist, habe ich heute meine Valentines Postkarten auf meinen Postkarten Quilt geheftet. Dann habe ich das ganze an die Wand genagelt,  da rechts wenn mann die Treppe hoch geht zum Naehzimmer.

The postcards are form some dear freinds of mine, and I like them all.

Die Postkarten sind von lieben Freunden, und ich mag sie alle.

Fun Day with the Grand Daughters

I had my three grand daughters over for a sleep over , and we got creative making journal covers. We will have to finish them the next time they come over, but I totally love the differences in each girls design and color choices. 

This one is Chloe's creation.

And here is Haleigh's.

I will have the girls learn to sew with the sewing machinesome other time,  and than they can finish their journal covers on their own. 

I had a lot of fun, and it was a great day to spend in my new sewing room while it rained outside. 

Quilt Exhibit Klingemuenster

 Before we left Germany, I got a chance to go to a small town to a quilt exhibit. I liked this window quilt, made witha crochet center.

Ich hatte noch die Chance in Deutschland eine kleine Quilt Austellung zu besuchen. Dieser kleine Fenster Quilt hat mir sehr gefallen, mit einer gehaekelten Mitte.

This table decoration was great.

Die Tischdecoration war nett.

Auch die Fenster Box hat mir gut gefallen.

The best was Igot to spend time with my sisters.

Das Beste war das noch etwas Zeit mit meinen Schwestern verbracht hatte.

Mt. Rainier

 

We moved from Germany to the beautiful Pacific Nortwest . This is Mt. Rainier , about 21.000 thousand feet tall. I love this Mountain, it is an awesome sight. If you drive towards the mountain and than off to the right, that is where we will be living.

Wir sind von Deutschland zum schoenen Pazifischen Nordwesten USA gezogen. Das hier ist ein Bild vom Rainier Berg, ganze 7.000 meter hoch. Falls du in diese Richtung faehrst und dann rechts, da ziehen wir hin.

Wishblock

Since we are moving from Germany back to Washington State I got to request a going -away-block from my guild. I had appliqued hearts for the last 8 years, and I used those for the wish block.

Da war ja gerade beim umziehen sind von Deutschland nach dem Staat Washington durfte ich mir einen Abschiedsblock wuenschen von meiner Gilde. Ich hatte seit 8 Jahren diese Herzen appliziert , und die dann genommen fuer meinen Wunschblock.

 

First I thought I would like this lay out,  the log cabin, but decided that I didn't .

Zuerst hatte ich gedacht das ich diesen Block moegen wuerde,den Logcabin, aber es war net so.

Than I thought of a simple 4 patch to go either on the left or the right of the heart. 

This is going to be pretty, don't you think?

Dann dachte ich an den einfachen 4 patch der dann entweder rechts oder links an das Herz genaeht wird. 

Das wird ein huebscher quilt, meinst du nicht auch?
