It is always my birthday

Whenever I like something it is always my birthday.
And I like a lot. My friends know this and let me be. Great friends.

Lovely old homes in Everett

My wonderful husband and I went to Everett last weekend to go whale watching. We stayed in the historical district in a wonderful B&B, and enjoyed a walk through the district. I find these homes amazing, and could not tell you which one I would choose if my hubby would want to buy me one of them. Granted, they are not as old as some of the houses in Europe, but they do have charm.

This one would make a great quilting retreat home.

The weather was wonderful, and the rhodys  and Japanese cherry trees were in full bloom.

Sonntags Bild

This is in my neighborhood, it is an old fuel truck. The guy's backyard looks like an old gas station.

Local Quiltshop BOM

This is the quilt my local quilt shop is doing as the block of the month this year.
So I signed up for it.
Here are some of the fabrics that come in the packages each month , plus the pattern for each block.

This is the first block.

Block number two.

I am working on the third block, just need to finish sewing it together.

Since the shop cut the fabric pieces rather plenty, what is a girl to do but make some small blocks. I do like these little churn dashes.
I think I am going to like this quilt, it will look nice on the guestbed.

My youngest son's quilt

I started this quilt for Ken two years ago. He picked the pattern and the colors, I just get to sew it together. At first I thought I wanted it on point. I decided against that.

So I thought I needed to add some filler block. Did not like that either.

This is how it is going to look. I will add a small inner border of grey and the outer border will be blue.    The background is blue minky. The quilt will be long, since my 6"3 baby boy likes to cover his head and feet when he sleeps.

Perfect frame for my artwork

I done this piece last year and yesterday I found the perfect frame at IKEA for it.
I drew a pattern of the tree and bird, than I put some glue on it, painted over it to see if it would crackle like it does on wood. It did not, so I painted over it, added some embroidery threads , some machine stitches,  some glitter paper stuff you use for scrapbooking and some yarns and beads. The background is quilted, and I bound it. I love this little piece, it now hangs in my guest room.

Trees

I went walking with my hubby along the river in Puyallup , and we came acrossed these trees.
This one had some white fuzzy stuff on it.
Dieser hier hatte so komische weisse Watte dran.

I love these corkscrew looking ones.
Die Korkenzieher Baeume fand ich witzig.

First signs of spring around here.
Der Fruehling ist da, oder?

I just love this old tree, all snarled up and odd.

I can't remember what this one is.

Master of my sewing room---we will see!

I am not sure how it happens, but I have so many scraps and pieces of fabrics that I thought I am going to cut them Bonnie Hunter style. I press the pieces, and than cut them into strips from 1.5" to 3 "inches and squares from 2" to 6.5 inches.

Here are some strips already cut and sorted. When I keep going I will need a bigger box.
Meine Streifen sortiert.

My beautiful squares in a box. These are 3" inches.

3.5" to 5 inches. It makes it easy for me when I make scrap quilts to just check my boxes for the fabrics needed. I am working on two leaders and enders quilts Bonnie Hunter style.
