It is always my birthday

Whenever I like something it is always my birthday.
And I like a lot. My friends know this and let me be. Great friends.

My Grand Daughters Birthday Quilt

My grand daughter is turning three years old , and it is time for the next quilt since the baby quilt she had got to small. She is a pink and purple girlie, so I came up with this quilt.
The setting block is the same as the one from my BOM .

The ideas for the flowers came out of this book" Curiosities and Mischief by Nancy Halverston "

I added rick -rack to all of them.

I made good use of cotton lace.

Buttons are sewn on tight.

Even tried my own rushing.

I found this great polka dot rick- rack at my local quilt shop.

This is how the quilt turned out. It is 68"by 80" , my grand daughter won't grow out of it for a while. In the setting blocks I quilted a huge flower, and the border has bows and swirls. I am pretty happy with the quilt, and hope Emily likes it also.

Fall is in the air

My neighbor is also a quilter and she invited me to join her and some other ladies to meet every other Friday morning to get together and do some hand quilting. This is what she was working on, and I thought it was a lovely idea.
The hexagons are about hand with size, and you only need a few of them to make a small table topper.

She hand embroidered the designs, and than used them as the center of the hexagons. You can still see the blue marking pen line.

I think I may have to make one,  it would be fast and you could actually do for for each season.

Yard Art

According to this pile of leaves fall is here. Since I don't have anything quilting related  to show right now I will  show you my yard art.

Meet Don, made by the wonderful Dad of my friend Jeri. Don can bob his head.

I put Don right next to my glow in the dark pink flamingo that I received for my birthday. Now they can be happy together.

I found this in an antique shop, it is made with a curtain rod, a metal camping plate, a small metal plate and a bowl. I had to have it, it was orange, and it looks good in my yard.

I love this frog, I had him for a long time now.

My friend Jeri's Mom gave me a bunch of hens and chicks,  planted some right here, and the rest in the back yard.

And this summer my other friend Barbara collected these pieces of driftwood at the beach in Pacific City, and my son driled holes into them so I could hang them up. This twirls in the breeze nicely.
