HUA Challenge Quilt

The small but talented Group HUA's had a challenge last year.
Every member ( there are six of us ) got assigned a three colors of the color wheel.
We were not allowed to add black /white to the challenge. Each of us had to come up with a block
in these colors and every one in the group made blocks also.
My colors were yellow and blue and green. Instantly I thought of yellow stars on the blue background, but what do to with the green?
Aha, put it in the center!

I even hand quilted the center of the stars.

The background is quilted just straight with my Pfaff machine.
Sometimes I miss my Millie.

The border fabric was a trade from my friend Jeri,
and I did the quilt as you go method. I decided on green for the border,
since there was so much blue in the quilt already.

I am happy with the quilt .

My girlfriend's quilt

I made this quilt for my friend Debbie in 2009.
Sadly Debbie passed away . I miss her every day.

I took this class in Germany with a very talented lady that showed
 us how to make amazing
flowers to jazz up your quilt.

Kona Cotton Jelly Roll Challenge

Our little international groups challenge this time was to use a beautiful Kona Cotton jelly roll in fall colors. We could add more fabrics of our choosing, or just work with the jelly roll.
In the fall catalog from Keepsake Quilting I found this pattern that I fell in love with.
I was a little apprehensive to use the jelly roll in these solid colors, because the pattern picture used various batiks. But I am happy with the way it turned out, and my choice of background fabric lets you see the easy and fast pattern.
I am waiting to receive my backing fabric, so I can go ahead and finish this quilt.
I chose a wonderful rust - brown flannel.

Each of us in this group will keep their own quilt, but we are making a small  quilt with our leftovers
that we will  exchange this summer. Here a small close up of what I have created, because it is supposed to be a surprise.  This small quilt can not be bigger than 50 inches all the way around.
